Mr Edward David Darelan Davis presented his Semon Lecture in 1947. In his lecture, he discusses the anatomy of the pharynx and oesophagus. He then goes on to urge for collaboration and communication between ENT doctors and surgeons and departments of anatomy and physiology.
Edward Davis was born in Cardiff, Wales, on the 11th of August 1880. He qualified in both medicine and dentistry from University College, Cardiff, in 1903. During his career he was regarded as an incredibly personable man who was a joy to work with and, as such, should come as no surprise that he was President of both the Laryngological and Otological Sections of the Royal Society of Medicine.
