Dr Paul Frenckner gave his Semon Lecture in 1950. He gave a very technical and detailed account of the instruments and techniques involved in clinical examination of the functional capacity of the lungs.

Paul Freckner died in 1967. He worked for most of his career in Stockholm and became Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at Sodersjukhuset. His main focuses were peroral endoscopy and later aural surgery. He was Editor-in-Chief for Acta Oto-laryngologica, one of the leading otolaryngological journals in the world.
