Dr Jean Guisez gave his lecture on the 6th of November 1924 at the Royal Society of Medicine. The lecture provides a comprehensive overview of oesophageal cancers, from its aetiology to the problems it causes to those affected by the different types and hence the diagnosis, prognosis and subsequent treatment.

Jean Guisez was born on the 2nd of March 1872 in Valenciennes, France. He was an otorhinolaryngological surgeon in Paris and published a number of papers in his lifetime.
