History and Practice of Endoscopic Nasal Surgery

Professor Wolfgang Draf delivered his Semon Lecture in 1994. In this, he gave an overview of the history of endoscopy, from its conception in 1879 by Nitze and then looking forwards to the possibilities for use in diagnosis and treatment in the future. In doing this, Draf highlighted some of the major achievements that had been made through using endoscopy.

Lecture

Wolfgang Draf was born on the 29th of November 1940 in Bonn, Germany. He had a very successful career and both practised and lectured internationally. Due to his international reputation, he also held a number of prominent positions within the otorhinolaryngological community, including President of the German Society for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, President of the European Skull Base Society and President of the German Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
