Ralph Gilbert – Biography

Dr Ralph Gilbert is the chief of the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at UHN and professor of head and neck surgery at the University of Toronto.

Dr Gilbert has dedicated his career to the study and management of head and neck cancers and achieved international reputation for his work in microvascular reconstruction. He is a sought after speaker and in 2010 was part of the elite group of head and neck cancer specialists invited to participate in the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies World Tour teaching in Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America. Professor Gilbert is involved in clinical and translational research in head and neck cancer and co-chairs the Head and Neck Group at the NCIC Clinical Trials Group. Professor Gilbert is also known for his leadership at The Princess Margaret and UHN having served as chair of the MAC, member of the UHN Board of Directors, member of the Quality Committee of the Board, chair of the Princess Margaret Quality Committee, chair of the Cancer Committee and chair of the Head and Neck Group.
